Welcome Home
Finally you’ve got your
little treasure home.
I hope you had a pleasant trip and it was not too bad for your baby.
Back home, just open the
cat cage and let the little kitten out. Show him/her where the litter box, are. Maybe the kitten is in need after hours of
traveling.
Be sure the kitten has
used the litter box within 24 hours. They can easy get stressed, when they move
from mother and siblings to a new environment.
Show the kitten where the
water and food bowls are placed, and maybe you bought a cat tree, you can also
show where that is placed.
Let the kitten just take the
time, walking around and smell the place. It will be nice if you sit down on
the floor next to your baby kitten so he/she feels that you are near.
If you have other cats or
dogs in the family already, leave the kitten out of the cat carrier. Let them
get introduced, by themselves. If you see they are hissing that’s ok. It can
take some time. You just came home with a “threat” J. Animals usually handle this much better than us,
humans. They know who is older, who they should follow and respect. Let them
find it out, don’t stress it out it can take some time. But, if you see they
are fighting Of Course, you need to separate them for a while until they get
used to each others smell. Help them, help them become friends and understand
that this is fun. Play with them, both together. Give them food, give them a
plate close to each other. Slowly slowly, they will find their way. And, don’t
forget, they will need at least 2 litter boxes or 3.
Be careful of stairs, cords,
flowers. (There are many flowers that are very toxic!)
Also some windows can be very dangerous for your new little friend. Don’t let
the toilet seat up! Never ever give them chocolate or raisins. Don’t give them
milk that has lactose, and that is not good for your cat. Stay with water.
I give my cats a mix of Royal
Canin. Wet food, I give them mostly Mother& Baby mousse, there is very high
protein. Many cats dosen’t drink enough of water, so that can helps if you give
them wet food.
I let my cats have their
food 24/7 full bowl. Ragdolls are big cats and their development is slow. They will be full sized and colored at the
age of 3-4 years old.
Comb them, help them to
get rid of dead coat! My best recommend is a steel comb. You actually dosen’t
need anything else. I can also recommend a Furminator. That one is perfect when
they loose a lot of coat.
Help them cut their claws, they will probably use the cat tree well, but
sometimes they can need a little bit help.
If they need a bath, give them a bath. Be careful of their ears NO water into
their ears. Dry them with hairdryer so they are for sure Not wet!
A happy cat is a clean cat.
I use a nail clipper for the claws, that works best for me.
You will need cat tree, or
something to scratch their claws. Don’t buy a very high cat tree from the
beginning. The kitten still dosen’t have the best balance. But they love to
stay high and watch what is going on.
I give my cats paste, that
helps them with digestion and prevents they build up of hair balls from
swallowed hair.
I hope you will be happy
with your new family member. It has been a pleasure to see them grow up,
and now, I give you my trust of responsibility to take good care of your
kitten.
Thank you and Welcome to
the AfroditeRagdolls Family,
Anna Hjort
You will need to preper for your kittens homecoming.
You will for sure need a cat carrier so you can transfer your kitten safe, food, bowls, litterbox, catsand-pellets what do you prefer, litter scoop, toys, cat tree. Maybe a comfortly cat bed so your kitten has his/her own place. For their grooming, I use a metal comb and I cut their claws with a nail clipper, that works best for me. You can probably buy a tons of things but this is what you need to start with.
I give them Royal Canin kitten so stay for that for at least 2 weeks and if you want to change food do it slowly. Give them for example 20% of that new food mixed with the food they already eat, for a couple of days. Then you can add a little bit more every 2nd day of the new food until you reach 2 weeks. They can be sensitive and get diarrehea, if you do it to fast.
I use open and closed litterboxes. Some kittens/cats prefer the open ones and some of them want the closed ones. I have them both so they get used to it. For now I use Tidy cats litter. I'm not very saticfied but I haven't really find anything I like and think works, when you have multiple cats.
I deworm my cats every 3rd month and I give them Frontline for flees once a month.
I give them a bath and use products for cats. You need to dry them Well and be careful so they don't get water in their ears.
